SeaDream yacht club is delighted to announce that celebrity chef and entrepreneur Levi Roots, who found fame in 2007 on the popular BBC Two series Dragons’ Den, will be joining SeaDream I aboard a 7-night voyage departing from Antigua (round-trip) on December 4, 2011. This is the first time SeaDream has hosted a UK-based celebrity chef on board.
Jamaican-born Levi Roots is known widely for his creative, Caribbean-themed cuisine – both in the UK and internationally – using simple techniques and easy-to-find ingredients. During the voyage, guests aboard SeaDream’s deluxe, all-inclusive mega yacht, SeaDream I, will have the opportunity to enjoy colorful cooking demonstrations by this famous celebrity chef and also sample his cuisine served at dinner one evening.
“With a maximum of 112 guests aboard, this promises to be an extra unique and exclusive voyage,” comments SeaDrea’sm UK Director of Business Development, Jenny Wright. “We are delighted to be welcoming Levi aboard and are confident that the indigenous culinary theme of this sailing will be of great interest to our loyal SeaDreamers and new guests alike.”
Says Levi Roots: “I am thrilled to be sailing and cooking aboard SeaDream’s award-winning SeaDream I – the first time I have been a guest chef at sea! My Caribbean food is renowned for ‘bringing sunshine to your kitchen and your soul.” This SeaDream I voyage departs Antigua December 4, 2011 and calls on Anguilla, Tortola, Norman Island, Virgin Gorda, Saba, St Barts and Nevis concluding in Antigua on December 11. Due to unrest in Tunisia, SeaDream yacht club has revised the itinerary for SeaDream II voyage # 21120 sailing May 18 – 28, 2011 from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy roundtrip. The port of La Goulette (Tunis), Tunisia has been replaced with Xlendi, Gozo Island, Malta.

SeaDream’s President, Bob Lepisto said “Based upon the tension in Tunisia, we feel the safety and security there remains uncertain. For that reason, we have elected not to call on the port of La Goulette (Tunis), Tunisia. Instead, we’ve chosen to call on the peaceful island of Gozo. It has some of the Mediterranean’s best dive sites and I think our guests will find this port highly enjoyable.”

Gozo, Malta’s sister island, is situated in the heart of the Mediterranean just 60 nautical miles south of Sicily. Greener and smaller than Malta; life on Gozo moves at a leisurely pace. In summer, the island is awash with oleander, bougainvillea and geranium. In addition to calling on Gozo Island, the 10-night voyage # 21120 also features Bonifacio, Corsica; Sardinia, Italy; Sicily, Italy and Amalfi & Capri, Italy. Rates starting at $5,999 per person.

The expression ‘Yacht Club’ is not a sentiment about size; it is a statement about lifestyle aboard the small vessels. Chic and stylish, SeaDream I & II are the ultimate hybrid of deluxe private yacht and luxury boutique spa. The elegant informality of the yachts sits comfortably with state-of-the art facilities, discreet, personal service and world class cuisine. Yachting is about enjoying an unstructured lifestyle, dropping anchor offshore rather than tie up at dock, staying in port over night and taking a voyage to locations where large traditional cruise ships cannot sail. Itineraries include the Eastern Caribbean, The Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Amazon. For more details visit www.SeaDream.com

Spain remains one of the few EU countries which persistently allow smoking in most public places. Not for long, however. It is expected that a bill which prohibits smoking will pass through parliament on 2nd January 2011.

As the EU strives to fight against smoking, the Spanish government has decided it is time to act. A new bill which will prohibit smoking in bars, cafes, restaurants and other public places is to be discussed on 2nd January.

Many representatives of the hospitality sector are expressing their doubts and worries; many believe that most of their clientele are smokers who come to enjoy the tapas and coffees – in combination with the freedom to smoke anytime, without having to step out in the street. They estimate a ban is likely to be a major set back for their business.
